The Nigerian Army says it has neutralized 58 bandits in Zamfara and Katsina states and arrested one alive.
In a statement released yesterday January 22,2019 by Major Clement.K.Abiade ,Force Acting Information Officer of operation Sharan Daji explained that on January 20,2019 troops came in contact with large numbers of bandits in Dumbrum and Gando forests armed with sophisticated firearms and rocket propelled grenades.He said the troops engaged the bandits in fierce gun battle which lasted for several hours leading the abandon of their camps by the bandits because of the superior fire power of the troops
The Nigerian army stated two gallant members of the troops and 2 members of local vigilante lost their lives in the process
He revealed that 8 soldiers and 6 vigilante also sustained several degree of injury and those with life threatening injury have been taken to Federal Medical centre in Gusau.
He said the troops also destroyed 18 camps owned by bandits and rescued 75 kidnapped victims who have been debriefed and re-united with their families
The Army said 4 AK47 ridles,5 National fabric riffle,1 locally fabricated pistol,10 locally fabricated pistol and 40 motorcycles were recovered from the hoodlums
