Hope is said to be rising for indigent bachelors in Rivers state and south-south region of Nigeria who are upto the age of getting married but lacks the financial capacity to do as Igbu-Akoh Kingdom in Ahoada East Local Government of Rivers state on Sunday,21st July,2024 harmonized and pegged marriage list at 150,000 naira,revelationagents.com can report.
According to community sources,the implication is that any man whether indigene of the kingdom or not coming to marry a bride from the kingdom,will not spend more than 150,000 naira.
Some respondents also opined that with the new development,many bride in the kingdom will be married off as prospective husbands will be encouraged to get a wife from the kingdom.
The development,we gathered has provided hope and succour for aged bachelors in the state and beyond who have blamed their inability of not getting married to exorbitant marriage list in many communities in the Rivers and other neighbouring states.
Checks by revelationagents.com shows that marriage list of many communities in Rivers and other south-south states is as high as eight hundred thounsand to five million naira which makes prospective husbands abscond after getting the list.
Although,some natives of the community argued that for the ractification to be effective,there must be strict monitoring by all the organs of the kingdoms such as the Council of Chiefs,Community Development Committee,Youth And Women .
Our source disclosed that the Kingdom also reduced the money to be spent on burial rites.
When contacted by Journalists,the Press Secretary of Igbu-Akoh Palace,Cassius Nwikoro confirmed the development while adding that the full publication will be released by HRM Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi in no distant time and the public will be officially informed.
