The Rivers State Police Command on Saturday,27th July,2024 held a burial procession in honour of Superintendent of Police,SP Bako Angbashim,Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Ahoada Police Division in Rivers state who was killed on 8th September,2023 by suspected Iceland cult members led by David Gift aka 2Baba.
Commissioner of Police in Rivers state,CP Olatunji Disu in his address said “we are gathered here to pay our final respect to the fallen hero.He was instrumental in arresting notorious criminals terrorizing East West road section in ogoni axis.
“He was transerred to Ahoada Police Division to arrest David Gift aka 2Baba and other cultists terrorizing the region.He met his tragic end at the place .
” investigation into the death of SP Bako led the command to launch assault on 2Baba who was later killed during a raid.The remains of Bako was recovered through credible intellegence and after DNA by SCIID,the DNA of Bako matched that of his mother and brother timothy Angbashim.
“I want to thank IGP Kayode Egbetokun for his support.I express gratitude to the Nigerian Airforce for providing air support and also thank other sister agencies for their contribuction.I also thank officers of the command for their dedication during the investigation”
CP Disu also stated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara has redeemed the 100 million naira pledge he made on David Gift 2Baba.

In his sermon, CSP .Vun.Peter Justus Command Chaplain(PROT),Rivers State who took his bible reading from book of
Ecclesiastes 3 vs 1-2 said on the topic
“Underatandting the timing of life ” stated that there is time for everything that exist on earth.whatever exist on earth is permitted by God.
“It is important to know that our existence is premised on time.As a crime fighter, we have good knowledge of him.We that are living is important for you to know that you are not going to live forever. Is important you have a relationship with God.Whatever you are asked to do,put in the best.
“People of God is important you use your time well.Our service to humanity is important as crime fighters.If you are priviledged to serve,do the best.How you die,when you die is immaterial,what is important that you will die one day.Let us serve to the best of our ability.
“Whatever you do is your legacy that will be said of us tommorrow .Let us keep good legacy”. Vun.Justus said.
Elder brother of SP Bako Dogo Akaso Angbashim in an interview with Journalists said “.I am here onbehalf of the family.I thank the Rivers state Police command and the Commissioner of Police for the Sacrifice they made to ensure that the kilkers of ny brother (SP Bako) are brought to book and his remains was recovered.
“I hank Rivers people for cooperating eith the Police”.
Our correspondent reports that there was parade for the late DPO at Police officers Mess Old GRA,PortHarcourt followed by senior officers paying last respect to him.
As at press time,his corpse is enroute Nassarawa state,his state of origin for burial.
Recall that the Iceland cult leader blamed for death of SP Bako,2Baba was killed in fierce gun battle with the Police at Ahoada on 17th February,2024 and his remains was recovered by the Police on 23rd February 2024 at Ebrass in Ahoada West Local Governmeht Area days after his boys carted away his remains.
