As the upsurge in cult related killings and violence continues in some parts of Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State,community sources have fingered and linked some gang leaders to the renewed hostilities.
Community sources disclosed that foot soldiers loyal to ‘General’ maximum may have carried out the attack that resulted to the killing of five persons in Edeoha community,Upata kingdom on Sunday 20th October,2024 in the LGA.
The Intelligence sources revealed that ‘General’ maximum has a camp in a neighbouring community to Edeoha where,the suspected killers came from to unleash mayhem in Edeoha community.
The source also fingered ‘General’ junior in recent killings and violence in Igbu-Orlukwor kingdom especially the recent disappearance of a paramount ruler and family youth on September 7,2024.
In Igbu-Akoh kindom,intelligence source links resurgence of cult activities to, ‘Generals’ Uche and Easter who are executives members of infamous late cult leader,David Gift aka 2Baba.
Recall that on Monday,21st October,2024 dead bodies of two community youth riddled with bullets were found at Odiokwu junction,Ula-Ehuda,Igbu-Kingdom.
Community sources disclosed that there must be concerted and deliberate efforts by the Police and other security agencies to tackle the gang leaders as the dangers their activities portends.
Atleast seven persons have been killed while others injured within two days in communities in Ahoada East LGA.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe Koko had disclosed that the Commissioner of Police,CP Mohammed Mustapha has directed the Area Commander of Aboada Area Command and Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Ahoada to commence investigation into the killings with a view to arresting the perpetrators.
