The hope of an improved synergy between the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria gained momenentum  on  Tuesday, 22nd October 2024, as a delegation from the IOM led by the Chief of Mission, Paula Pace, visited the Director General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, OON, at the Agency’s Headquarters, Abuja,Nigeria.

In her address, the IOM Chief of Mission congratulated the Director General for her appointment assuring that the organization will continue to support the fight against human trafficking and irregular migration in the country.

In her response, the Director General, Binta Adamu Bello,thanked the IOM for its sustained support of the Agency and sued for improved collaboration in all its thematic areas.

Issues discussed by both parties include an improved scope of the partnership, new initiatives to tackle human trafficking with grassroots involvement, joint work plan, capacity building for critical stakeholders as well as accelerated migration data collection for planning and intervention.
