The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested a suspected kidnapper and rescued a four year old child.SP Abdullahi Kiyawa,Public Relations Officer of the Command said a report was received on November 22, 2024, at about 5 pm, from Zilkiflu Abdullahi of Dakatsalle Village, Bebeji LGA, Kano State, stating that his 4-year-old daughter, Nabila, was missing.
SP Kiyawa explained that the following day, he received a call from an unknown person claiming to have kidnapped his daughter and demanding a ransom of N3,000,000.
SP Kiyawa disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, promptly raised a team of Anti-kidnapping Squad, led by SP Aliyu Muhammad Auwal, to rescue the victim and apprehend the suspect,after sustained efforts and intelligence-led operations, the suspect, Saifullahi Abba, 23, of Kofar Fada Quarters, Wudil LGA, Kano State, was arrested on November 28, 2024 at Luran Village, Dawakin Kudu LGA, Kano State.
“The suspect confessed to the crime and led detectives to where the victim was being held hostage in Luran Village, Dawakin Kudu LGA. The victim was rescued unhurt and taken to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where she was examined and discharged in good health. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police assures the public that the Command will continue to work tirelessly to prevent and investigate criminal activities, bringing perpetrators to justice. The community is urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with the Police to create a safer environment for all” SP Kiyawa said.
