The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, says the command has successfully conducted a clearance operation to tackle the remnants of thuggery (Daba) in the State.
SP Andullahi Kiyawa,Public Relations Officer of the Command in a statemnt onbehalf of the Commissioner of Police, disclosed that the operation, which took place between January 1st to 3rd, 2025 within Kano Metropolis resulted in the arrest of twenty (20) suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons, illicit drugs.
SP Kiyawa listed items recovered as follows:
i. Nineteen (19) knives
ii. Three (3) pointed irons
iii. One (1) hand saw
iv. One (1) pair of scissors
v. Two (2) clubs
vi. Six (6) parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
vii. Twelve (12) wraps of suspected Indian hemp
viii. Thirty-one (31) sachets of diazepam
Meanwhile CP Garba has appreciated the good people of Kano State for their support and cooperation during the operation.
CP Garba asserted that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the State and urges everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
“The Command has been actively engaging with community leaders, stakeholders, and residents to gather feedback, concerns, and suggestions on how to improve security and safety in the State. This feedback has been invaluable in shaping our policing strategies and ensuring that they are responsive to the needs of the community.
“Some of the community-centred policing initiatives that the Command has implemented include:community Policing Forums,Neighborhood Watch Programs,
Youth Engagement Programs etc.
SP Kiyawa stated that the Kano State Police Command is committed to continuing and expanding these community-centred policing initiatives to ensure the safety and security of all residents in the state.
