Nigeria-National Agency for Food and Drugs Administrative Control(NAFDAC) has sealed off a Chinese supermarket in Wuse 2, Abuja(Federal Capital Territory), for selling expired products and items labelled entirely in Chinese without English translations, which violates NAFDAC regulations.
NAFDAC in a statement in its X-handle disclosed that the expired products were also discovered during the inspection.
“The agency is investigating how these products entered the country in such quantities without proper checks and has extended the probe to the supermarket’s warehouse to ensure public safety.
“Please note, products sold with labels in foreign languages without English translations violate NAFDAC labelling guidelines and are illegal.
“We have invited the supermarket’s management for further investigation and reaffirm our commitment to protecting public health”.
