A man identified as Michael in his early 30s is now in custody of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his friend Uchemna to death after accusing him(Uchenna) of stealing his(Michael’s) phone.
We learnt that the incident occured at Egede Street,Mile 2 Diobu PortHarcourt,Rivers State last Wednesday,12th February,2025.
A source privy to the incident disclosed to our reporter that Uchenna visited Michael in his house as both of them were friends,after sometime, Michael could not find his mobile phone.
The source revealed that Michael accused Uchenna of stealing his handset despite the fact that the deceased denied stealing the phone ,an argument ensued and in the process,Michael pick up a jack knife and allegedly stabbed Uchenna on the Stomach.
We gathered that,Uchenna was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead while Michael was latee arrested by the Police .
The Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command,Grace Iringe Koko who is also a Superintendent of Police,SP Confirmed the incident to our reporter.
She said “yes I can confirm the incident.The suspect has been arrested and transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID),PortHarcourt for detailed investigation”.
