Port Harcourt, Feb. 3, 2019 (NAN) Mr Tonye Princewill, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers said despite pending court matters currently truncating campaigns, the party has remained resolute on positive strategies towards winning the general elections.
Princewill made the statement in an interview with newsmen on Friday in Port Harcourt.
He said that he is optimistic that the APC would get justice and be included on the ballot as against speculation by the ruling PDP who thought that the party has permanently lost its place on the 2019 ballot.
“Rivers APC is not discouraged, yes, we are in court on different matters and the reason is because the present administration here in Rivers believed that if we are out there in the field, campaigning just as they are doing right now, they may loose grip of their supports.
“Gov. Wike knows that a good number of his supporters are already tired of his administration and are begging to join the APC that’s why he went ahead to adopt every available mechanism to ensure we are striped off our right of being on the ballot.
“Fortunately, APC and its candidates have rather enjoyed huge publicity and acceptance in all these cases driven by the PDP against us.
“Though we are in court, we have continuously upheld our purpose for Rivers people and we know the high level of positive responses and feedbacks we get daily from the people and we are happy about that,” he said.
The party chieftain said that the state chapter of the party, though not in open campaigns is working tirelessly to correct all existing divisions within the party to futher strengthen it for victory.
“As I speak, reconciliation is still ongoing because its our candidate’s passion, Arch. Tonye Cole our candidate had severally revealed his attempt to reconcile the aggrieved Sen. Magnus Abe to the fold and he will achieve this God willing,” he said.
Princewill therefore, urged party faithfuls and all well meaning Rivers people to remain focused as the party looked forward to puting on record the highest support crowd ever witnessed in the state whenever the presidential campaign train gets to the Rivers.
“The presidential campaigns across the country showed that President Buhari’s victory is ready a work over and I’m optimistic that when he comes to Rivers, the enthusiasm from our people will also affirm his victory here,” he said.
