Barely an hour after women in Abonnema ,Akuku-Toru Local Governmebt area if Rivers state,Nigeria embarked on a peace walk calling for an end to political and all forms of a killing in the town,unknown gunmen were reported to have attacked and shot two soldiers dead at a checking point in Abonnema on Saturday night (March 2,2019).
Community sources say the gunmen carted away the riffles belonging to the soldiers
We learnt that as at Sunday morning natives were fleeing the community over fear of reprisals by the military
The spokesperson of 6 Division Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Colonel Aminu Ilayasu is yet to respond to text messages sent to his mobile line by Revelation Agents Online News as st press time
It will be recalled that over ten persons were killed on February 23,2019 in Abonnema in a gun duel between men of Nigerian soldiers and Political thugs during the presidential and National Assembly election in Nigeria
