The Assistant Secretary General of Omoku Youth Federation (OYF) who is also the representative of Rivers West Senatorial district at Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP)
has narrated how He was allegedly humiliated and tortured by the Joint Military Task (JTF) in Omoku town in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local Government area of Rivers state,Nigeria yesterday June 19,2019 for querying the rationale behind alleged extortion of money from commuters plying through Erema street close to the JTF check point
In an exclusive chat with Revelation Agents this evening,the Youth leader explained that He received a call from one Rowland Peters that the bike that was conveying him to his destination and others have been seized by the JTF and money extorted from the drivers before the bikes are released.
He said “when I got there I saw the Man O War man who was stationed at the junction by the JTF ,I ask him to leave the place that what He was doing is illegal,only for Him to leave and come back with the JTF commanders with five other officers who asked who I am,and I told that am the Assistant General Secretary of OYF”
He further said”the JTF commander ordered his boys to beat me,after beating me,I was locked up for one hour before the intervention of ONELGA Chief of Staff,Hon.Chijioke Ejebide who learnt about the incident and came to the JTF camp to ensure I was released “
Hon.Claude explained that before now,the Youth body had raised their concern in a protest visit to the ONELGA council Boss,Hon Ifeanyi Odili who directed the Chief of Staff,Chijioke Ejebide to visit the JTF camp and tell them to stop the alleged extortion
Rowland Peters Azuibike Okwusa Assistant Secretary of Rivers state Youth Federation, ONELGA chapter told Revelation Agents that when He saw the extortion by the JTF,He reached out to Hon.Claude who accompanied him to the place.
He said “When I saw that the JTF personnel had locked up Hon.Claude,I made efforts to reach the ONELGA Chief of Staff,who came to the scene within 40 minutes and effected the release of Hon.Claude”
Rowland Peters urged the ONELGA Council Chairman to look into the activities of the JTF personnel whom He accused of involving in illegal activities in the area
The Chief of Staff to ONELGA Council Chairman,Hon.Chijioke Ejibede declined to comment on the issue as He did not respond to several text messages or phone call placed across to Him by our reporter
The spokesperson of 6th Division Nigerian Army Col.Aminu Illayasu before this incident had always declined to respond to text messages sent to Him by Revelation Agents on issues concerning the Nigerian Army
