
……Urge Stakeholders To Encourage Youth To Pay Attention To Education
Relief International Africa(RIA) a Non Governmental Organization(NGO) in Nigeria celebrated United Nations(UN) International Youth day yesterday August 30,2019 in Port Harcourt capital of Rivers State with a call to Government, Parents, Individuals in the society to encourage the Youth to pay more attention to education to usher in a better future.
The Country Director of RIA Ambassador Green Isaac in his address explained that the 2019 Theme of the UN International Youth Day “Transforming Education” highlights the efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves.
Ambassador Isaac revealed that inclusive and accessible education is crucial in achieving youth development, sustainable development and can play a role in the prevention of conflict.
The organization also bestowed “Ambassador of Peace” award to twenty four distinct individuals who have contributed immensely to promotion of peace in the society.
Ambassador Green while issuing the awards to the awardees on behalf of the organization urged the recipients to promote unity and peace wherever they find themselves. He said “ the award is a call to greater service to humanity and the award should reflect in your day to day activities”.
Ambassador Mrs Anita Ogona Josephine who spoke on behalf of the awardees promised that they will be true Ambassadors of peace in deed and in character.

In his own contribuction, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Prince .S.Daniels identified unemployment as one of the challenges bedeviling the youth.He called on Government at all levels to do more in creating jobs while urging the youth to look inward to develop the talent deposited in them by God.

One of the guest speakers in the event, Cosimos Dinee in his speech said “the society should allow the space for the youth to participate in all sphere so that they can bring their knowledge to bear”.
National coordinator of Civil Rights Council in Nigeria, Barrister Arochukwu Ogbonna(Esq) called for the refocusing of educational policy to meet the yearnings and aspiration of a nation hoping to compete favourably and play a leading role in the global economy already dominated by modern technology.

Earlier the Rivers State Commander of Peace Corp,Mr Obiora asserted that Nigeria youths are not lazy, all they need is the enabling environment to excel.
He said “Peace Corp takes youth out of the streets to train, educate and teach them their role in the society”.
