……….. Vows Not To Step Down
Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State, the candidate of the Rebuild Nigeria Party, Mrs Charity Ken Godwin, has vowed not to step down for any of the candidates of the bigger political parties.
Mrs Godwin, who stated this in an exclusive interview with our Correspondent in Yenagoa, revealed that there have been overtures from some parties for her to abandon her quest to govern the state, but she had turned them down. “I cannot come this far and betray the confidence reposed on me by the masses of Bayelsa State by stepping down for any party, irrespective of the sum of money”.
According to her, as a woman in the race, she is not threatened by her male counterparts and their big political parties, adding that with God on her side, she will succeed.
The RNP candidate, also attributed the high crime rate in the State to unemployment, which she said would be curbed  through her economic plans that would be implemented, when she assumes office. Other areas of need that would be given attention, according to her, are provision of portable water, independent and constant electricity supply,  industrialization, security etc.
The candidate insisted that she is determined to change the narrative of governance in the state, adding that the Girl-Child would be given priority in her government, as girls would enjoy free education from primary to the tertiary level, while their male counterparts would be from primary to secondary.
She enjoined women who intend to go into politics to be disciplined and focused in order to be successful.
