Civil Rights Council, Rivers State Calls For Zero Discrimination Of People Living With HIV/AIDS.
Civil Rights Council, Rivers State calls for an end to all forms of discrimination against persons living with HIV/AIDS as the Council joins the rest of the World in marking the December 1,2019 WORLD HIV/AIDS DAY with the theme “Communities Making The Difference “.
Civil Rights Council believes that most people living with the epidemic die as a result of trauma occasioned by discrimination and stigmatization they suffer from fellow citizens.
We use the occasion of World HIV/AIDS Day to call on States and Federal Government to enforce the HIV/AIDS Anti-Discrimination Act of 2014 signed by the Administration of President Goodluck Jonathan which protects the rights and dignity of persons living with the disease and equally makes it a crime for employers to compel employees to undergo HIV/AIDS test to determine their status.
Civil Rights Council also call on communities and individuals to support and care for people living with HIV/AIDS as the epidemic is not a death sentence neither is it a crime. People living with the epidemic needs our moral support and love and as such should not be seen as outcasts.
We finally urge every individual to join in the campaign of ending the transfer of HIV/AIDS.
