Shop owners in Rumuodara community in Obi/Akpor local Government area of Rivers State on Thursday denied reports of extortion of shop owners by the vigilante Committe in the community . The shop owners made the disclosure during an extraordinary security meeting held on Thursday 19 December 2019 which also had in attendance security committee of Rumuodara Youth Progressive Forum.
The Shop owners passed a vote of confidence on the security committee and also praised them for keeping to their mandate.
One of the shop owners who gave her Ngozi, in a chat with Revelation Agents said “Good leadership must come with criticism, you don’t expect everyone to be on the same level of thought with you, the allegations are false and should not be taken seriously”.
Ngozi further praised the security committee for what she termed as progress in securing properties of those doing business in Rumuodara.
Mr Samuel Chisom and Ejike, both shop owners, who spoke onbehalf of others thanked the President of Rumuodara Youth Progressive Forum, Frank Nzube Weli for his good work in terms of sanitation and working in synergy with security operatives in securing lives and property in the community.
The venue of the meeting was filled to capacity.
