The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes as reprehensible the revelation that President Muhammadu Buhari is concealing alleged bribery and corrupt practice involving Adams Oshiomhole the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress Party who is being investigated by Department of State Service.
A statement released and signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan noted that the party is privy to pressure from the Buhari presidency on the DSS who reportedly grilled and detained Oshiomhole to let him off the hook for fear that his investigation will unearth complicity of the presidency and other APC members in the scam.
The statement read that information available to PDP reveals that apart from the billions of naira allegedly stole from coffers of Edo state When He was a Governor, Oshiomhole is allegedly facing charges of collecting billions of naira from other Ministers and other APC source in Adamawa, Kano, Rivers and Imo state to manipulate 2019 electoral process.
This is addition to allegedly collecting billions of naira to influence electoral officers , Independent observers and certain polling organizations ahead of 2019 election, part of which was allegedly diverted to personal use of some APC leaders.
The statement maintained that PDP had always alerted Nigerians on corruption burden on the APC National Chairman and official cover up by the Buhari presidency including stalling his investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over alleged stealing from billions of naira from EDO state coffers.
The statement further stressed that if the presidency has nothing to hide, if is not complicity in the alleged scam it should allow EFCC and DSS to investigate and prosecute its party National Chairman now the whole thing is before Nigerians. The PDP statement noted that as long as DSS and EFCC is not allowed to out Oshiomhole into the dock, the Buhari Presidency does not have the moral rectitude to speak on corruption.
The statement asserted that the involvement of DSS on the alleged corruption burden on Oshiomhole had already become a security risk for our nation.
The PDP statement finally stated that the under no circumstances should the President escort Oshiomhole out of the country like it did for disgraced former Minister of Finance.
