The Rivers Civil Society Organizations views as shameful comments credited to some state Governors that they won’t be able to pay 1,000 per day that is 30,000 naira minimum wage to the toiling workers of Nigeria but could approve jumbo pay for Politicians who contribute nothing to Nigeria economy
For the records all state Governors can pay the slave wage of 30,000 naira as presented by the tripartite committee if they do the following:
1. Reduce the exorbitant salary and emolument of all the elected and appointed office holders
2.Initiate and engage in productive business ventures that could raise the IGR of the state as this lazy way of running the state from only funds received from the centre is no longer attainable.
3. Invest in Education, Health and Human capital investment as this will boost the economy of the state in the long run.
4. Block all sources of corruption by introducing ICT and punish corrupt officials
We equally use this opportunity to call on all Rivers People to support ASUU in the ongoing struggle to stop ruling elites from depriving the poor of their right to affordable and quality education through deliberate ploy to underfund public universities .As we are aware this was the same ploy used to destroy our affordable and glorious primary and secondary schools
RIVCSO therefore call on all well meaning Nigeria and citizens group to stand by all the Labour centre and ASUU in this trying time
RIVCSO therefore call on the President and Governors who cannot meet up this basic agreement to write their hand over note and PACK AND GO.
