A renowned Human Right Activist, columnist, researcher and Port Harcourt based travel Journalist Patrick .B. Naagbanton has suggested that Politicians should withdraw their support to cult gangs for cultism to stop in the state.
He made this assertion in an interview with Revelation Agents Online News and other Journalists at the side line of Public Presentation of Volume 1 and 2 of the books, “FOOTPRINTS OF NKPOO SIBARA,DELE GIWA AND KEN SARO WIWA” by Patrick .B.Naagbanton and edited by Dr.Alfred Charles of Department of Political Science ,Federal University, Wukari, Taraba state, Nigeria.
He said “if they, Politicians withdraw their support , this guys we not have the support to acquire arms and unleash violence in the society”.
He also stated that the Government must provide qualitative Education in the primary levels (Primary and secondary) for her citizens according to the United Nations convention which Nigeria is part of.
He said “ to do that the Government need to increase the budget for education and also monitor how money is spent , that is what We are advocating for”.
When ask by Journalists why He decided to carry out the public presentation of the book on the day Ogonis were celebrating Ken Saro Wiwa and other fallen Heroes, He said “Ken Saro Wiwa is a man of Many parts, Ken Saro Wiwa typify Journalism and literature, so what MOSOP is doing is looking at the activism side of Saro where as some of us is looking at the Journalistic and literary side, that is while We had to organize things like this”.
He said “this is a way of celebrating not only Saro Wiwa people like Dele Giwa and others who died for the cause of fighting for humanity all over the world”.
In his remarks the Editor of the book Dr Alfred Charles said “We need to put our history together and document it as a people, we have all failed but the book is a salvation to one of our failures”.
Highlights of the events include the unveiling of the book by Nkem Joan Dike a Human Right Advocate and an associate of Patrick Naagbanton.
The Chairman of the occasion, Dr.Austin Amanze in his closing remarks said “We must tell people the truth despite our religious orientation, writing is about documenting the truth”.
Dr.Amanze urged participants in the Public Presentation of the books to spread the content of the book.
