The Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign condemn in its entirety report of assassination attempt on Segun Owolabi, south -south Business Manager of Silverbird Communications Limited by unknown gunmen at the front of his residence on Monday night.
We are shocked and surprised that a fine gentleman,a preacher of the gospel of Christ and a media icon like Segun Owolabi who has displayed professionalism, promoted rule of law and enthroned accountability in the society through balanced reportage will be targeted by criminal elements for elimination.
There is no justification for acts of violence against Segun Owolabi.
Centre for Basic Rights Protection calls on the Rivers State Police command and relevant security agencies to launch an investigation into the incident to unravel the perpetrators and the sponsors of the assassination attempt on Mr Segun Owolabi with a view to bringing those responsible to book.
The Police must make intentional and deliberate effort to guarantee the safety of Mr Segun Owolabi and his family as they go about their lawful business in the state.
