The Rivers State Police command says the Chief Security Officer of Etche Local Government,Chinedu Onyeche has been invited by the Police on alleged assault of the leader of the legislative assembly,Mrs Cynthia Nwala.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command SP Nnamdi Omoni who confirmed the development said investigation has commenced and the Chief Security Officer has been invited.
In the meantime, the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign and Legal Care Advocacy Foundation have called on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police,CP Friday Eboka to order an unbiased and thorough investigation into the circumstance that led to the alleged stripping of Mrs Cynthia Nwala,the leader of Etche Local Government Area half nude by some persons said to be agents of the Council last Monday .
The groups in a statement on Tuesday 5th October 2021, signed by Kelechi Uzoma, Gladys Oyenmwen of Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign and Mrs Jane O.A.James Esq, Goodness Onuoha Esq of Legal Care Advocacy Foundation described the dehumanization of Mrs Nwala as barbaric, inhumane and height of violations of right to dignity of human persons.
The groups urged the Rivers state Police Boss to ensure that individuals found culpable in the course of investigation are made to face the law, no matter how highly placed the person(s) are in the society.
The groups while condemning the striping and assault on Mrs Nwala maintained that justice must be manifestly seen to be done to all the parties involved in the matter.
