The Rivers state police command on Wednesday,November 24th,2021 paraded four suspects who allegedly manufactures fake automotive lubricants and sell to the public
The Police Public Relations Officer,SP Nnamdi Omoni on Wednesday conducted Journalists round the illegal lubricant depot.
Onyema Ugochukwu,one of the suspects who spoke to Journalists at the illegal manufacturing site, said they are not into illegal oil bunkering but blending of condemned oil which they turn back to lubricant use in generator He said at the end of the blending they get products like grease , engine oil which they retail.
The 35 Year Old Onyema Ugochukwu who is the manager of the of the company and a native of Imo state said they buy lubricants in a very large quantities and sell to retailers.He however denied involvement in an illegal refining of crude product, adding that the company was legally registered and explained the process of making the lubricants .
Other suspects arrested include Okiri Godbless, Ogbonna Emmanuel and Okubo-Ebi Ugochukwu .
The Police Public Relations Officer Nnamdi Omoni who briefed journalists at the scene disclosed that men of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, (SCIID) stormed the the alleged illegal manufacturing site based on a tip off. .
SP Omoni stated that the call by the Police to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to arrest of operators of illegal oil bunkering site is paying off.
SP Omoni warned operators of illegal oil bunkering in the state to repent or face the full wrath of the law . SP Omoni said the Police will sustain the raids to bring to an end the menace of Illegal bunkering activities.
Recall that the three fire incidents that rocked a building at Isiokpo street in D-line, Rumuokoro and Nembe jetty between last Saturday and Monday were attributed to activities of illegal crude oil refiners
Our Correspondent reports that over 12 GPeee Tanks of products where seen at the site as well as i 12.5kg gas cylinder, one gallon of sulfuric acid and half bag of bleaching earth chemical.
