Promise Cletus aged 32 years was on Tuesday remanded in Port Harcourt Correctional Centre by Chief Magistrate Court 8 in Port Harcourt presided over by Chief Magistrate F.N Amanze Esq  over charges bordering on alleged  taking away of 15 months old child.

The charge read :That you Promise Cletus ‘m’ on the 1st day of December, 2021 at Iwofe in PortHarcourt magisterial district did take away one King David Saroz ‘m’ one year and three months from the custody of his mother, one Mary Victor ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 27(2) (b) (c) of child’s  right act ,cap 50 laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2003.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Chief Magistrate remanded the defendant and adjourned to January 21,2022 for hearing .
Our correspondent reports that the defendant had no legal representation while Jane O.A.James Esq and Esther Anchor Korienta was holding watching brief for Legal Care Advocacy Foundation and International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) respectively on behalf of the complainant.

Also the case of Joshua Efe standing trial on one count charge of indecent assault on four male minors suffered set back as the chief magistrate court presided over by Rita Oguguo where the case is being heard did not sit.
A new date will be given for continuation of hearing on the matter.
