A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt have convicted and sentenced a young lady identified as BLESSING STEPHEN to ten years imprisonment for conspiracy and child trafficking.
BLESSING STEPHEN who is a second defendant in the matter was charged alongside one ABIGAIL MONDAY who is the first defendant and mother of the victim for conspiring and selling the one year and seven months baby identified as BLESSED MONDAY at the sum of two hundred thousand naira.
Our Correspondent reports that while the court directed that ABIGAIL MONDAY must report herself to court three times a week to sweep and dust the furnitures in the court room for one year as her punishment for been shown remorse through out the trial of the matter and been deceive to sale her own child, the court convicted and sentenced MRS STEPHEN for ten years.
The Presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate FELICITAS AMANZE, in her judgement described BLESSING STEPHEN as unrepentant and harden lier, saying that the prosecution was able to prove their matter that she actually deceive the first defendant to sell the baby, gave her twenty thousand naira and never gave her the balance till date.
Chief Magistrate AMANZE said the three years in count one and seven years in count two must run consecutively.
