..As Education Commissioner Says He Is Not Aware Of Such Development
For timely Intervention of personnel of Borokiri Police Division led by the DPO there would have been total break down of law and order at Community Secondary School,UPE busstop, Borokiri, PortHarcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday as parents stormed the school to demand the ongoing WAEC examination be halted over exclusion of their children who are students of the school.
In interview with our reporter,
Iyaye Sunday of the parents said “the students going to this school from JSS1 to this SS3, got to them to write this exam,my son called me yesterday that the principal asked more than sixty students to go out because he went and admitted external candidates and,I am sure of it because I saw the external candidates they are in the hall writing exams .My children and others are outside crying .
“I don’t know what to do ,my children paid for the WAEC fee.I came myself to pay for the children and we all here.The Principal can testify about it,I don’t know why he did what he did,he removed the names of students and put external candidates.The students are outside and we the parents are not happy.The students excluded are sixty -two students.
Leya Jeremiah another patent said “yesterday my son called me that the Principal said he will not write WAEC,so now my son is outside .We are pleading that you people should come and help us.Just sixty two students that is outside.He brought external Candidates.
“The Principal said is School’s board that removed the students names from the WAEC list .

said “My Son called me yesterday that the Principal said they will not write exams that his name was not included .I asked him why,what did he do,my son said he did not do anything that is not only him .So I have to walk down to the school this morning .I asked the Principal why my son’s name did not appear.
“He said the Commissioner gave him slot of atleast 480 to register but he himself went with atleast 420 to register .At the end of the day Commissioner registered 350 for him and removed names of 61 persons .I asked him why the sixty one persons will not be the external candidates,it will now be the ones that started from JSS1 .
“I told the Principal if he wants to remove names,is supposed to be the names of the external candidates he collected 38,000 from to register.
“We are demanding that they should send our children names.If the children names are included we the parents we not allow them continue to write the exams”.
When contacted, the Commissioner of Education, Professor Chinedu Mmom said there is no official report to his office,either from the School or the parents.
Professor Mmom added that if there is such incident,let the parents report officially to his office and the issue will be investigated.
