Rivers State Police command says it has arrested a suspected Vikings cult Kingpin known as Kenneth Mkpe at Bomu at Tai LGA .
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emeka Nwonyi in a press briefing on Monday 19,2023 said operatives of command on 17 , 2023 stormed the the hideout of the suspected Vikings cult member and arrested the culprit.
CP Nwonyi said an English Barreta pistol was recovered from the suspected cultist and upon interrogation,he confessed that he bought the pistol from a Philipino working at infertilizer company in the State.
CP Nwonyi also revealed that operatives of the command while on patrol at Rupokwu market stopped a Toyota Corolla ash colour car. one loveday Friday, Amesi,Chibuzor Kingsley all residents of Igwurita were searched and live catridges,two masks ,two expanded catridges were recovered from them.
The Rivers Police Boss disclosed that personnel of RRT of the command on17 June 2023 along station road recovered one locally made pistol recovered from Maduabuchi Ali.
CP Nwonyi further stated that on 18 June 2023 at about 1300 operatives of Special area received report from Nwankwo one Jude that he parked his Toyota Jeep,he saw stranger driving his car.
He said the man raised alarm and one Enobong was arrested by the operatives of the command.
On 17 June 2023 Police operatives received a disress call at Obiwali road,that three young men brought in a Toyota car stained with blood.
The hoodums escape on noticing the Police has arrived while the vehicle was impounded.
On 18 June 2023 at about 0900hours, personnel of C41 intelligence unit arrested one Osinachi mbakwe, upon interrogation he confessed to be a member of four man armed
robbery gang terrorizing PH. An operational vehicle was recovered.
CP Nwonyi also revealed that SARS is not operational in Rivers State contrary to social media report.He said SARS remains disbanded in Rivers State as directed by Inspector General of Police
CP Nwonyi however added that he has directed CP Monitoring unit to monitor activities of Police officers in the command and any one found wanting will be dealt with in accordance with the extant law of the Nigeria Police.
