The Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka (PHD) has condemned the police assault and brutality of a man in a video trending on the social media.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer,SP Grace Iringe Koko in a statement on Tuesday 11, July,2023 disclosed that the policemen in the video have been identified and arrested.
SP Koko said they are currently at the Command undergoing trial for their unprofessional act which will serve as deterrent to other police personnel .
The Rivers State Police Comnand in the statement appealed to the victim to come forward to the Public Relations Department, Rivers State Police Command to give his own statement so as to aid conclusion of the investigation while assuring that his identity will be protected.
Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police,CP Nwonyi has assured members of the public, that the police operatives will be investigated in line with extant rules underlying the conduct of police personnel and appropriate sanctions meted accordingly.
The statement added that the is committed to promoting the rule of law in course of it’s operation in the state.
