The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC has revealed that the
recent arrest of Ogbonna Orji, son of Sen.Theodore Orji, over money laundering, has absolutely nothing to do with son ofex-VP Atiku Abubakar. The EFCC made this revelation in a statement issued on its official twitter handle @EFCCnigeria Today afternoon .
EFCC stated that
the former Abia state Governor has been under investigations by the EFCC, for money laundering activities, which was discovered to have been carried out through his sons
The EFCC “had been on the trail of cars allegedly bought by the sons, and last Friday the cars were traced to a night club in Abuja, where operatives waited patiently through the night to arrest the owners – Ogbonna and his friend, Kelvin Ilonah”.
According to EFCC statement they were arrested at about 5am on Saturday, and they led operatives to their three-flat apartment, where documents retrieved showed that it was rented at a rate of N13million per annum.
The statement added that they have so far given useful information to the EFCC, which is aiding in investigations. It should be made clear that the EFCC never”went after” Atiku’s sons, neither was Atiku’s son arrested by the EFCC.
Meanwhile the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization has condemned alleged invasion of Atikur’s sons home by Federal Government controlled EFCC.
In a statement released today by the party which was signed by the Director of Media and Publicity Presidential campaign Council,Kola Ologbondiyan described the act as vicious, dirty, outrageous and reprehensible
The statement noted that it is appalling the Buhari presidency can now go as low as engaging in wicked politics of chasing after family members of presidential candidate who are neither Government officials
nor contractor or involved in under hand dealing but young students pursuing their legitimate Educational career
The statement added that no amount of intimidation on PDP leaders, presidential candidate and His family members will stop Nigeria from voting All Progressive Congress party led Nigeria Federal Government out come 2019,general elections

President of Federal Republic of Nigeria
