Civil Rights Council Port Harcourt calls on the Inspector General of Police,IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu and Commissioner of Police in Rivers state,Usman Belel to order an immediate investigation into the circumstance surrounding the alleged stabbing to death of Nyebuchi 27 years of age and shooting of 13 years Precious Gladstone and Turuchi by Police Officers attached to Elimgbu Police station,in Rivers state,Nigeria yesterday night April 18th,2019
Civil Rights Council Port Harcourt is disturbed by this development and believes that an unbiased investigation will unravel the circumstance that led to the death of Nyebuchi and shooting of two others by Elimgbu Police Officers with a view to bringing the culprits to book
Civil Rights Council is shocked that despite the recent visit by IGP Mohammed Abubakar to Lagos Police Command within the week to warn officers and men of the Nigerian Police to desist from wanton and extra judicial killing of innocent citizens,such sad incident could still occur in Port Harcourt few days after the pronouncement by IGP
Civil Rights Council used this medium to sympathize with the families of the victims and equally called on the IGP to ensure Justice is done and seen to be done in this circumstance
Civil Rights Council Port Harcourt as a genuine Human Rights organization will closely monitor this situation to ensure Justice is served to all parties
