Chief Davies Ikanya, Candidate for Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro federal constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has charged ward leaders of the party on peace ahead of the general elections.

Ikanya gave the charge during a new year reception he organized for ward chairmen of his constituency in Ikuru town, Andoni local government area of Rivers.

He said that as part of his consistent efforts to ensure peaceful elections he invited all APC ward chairmen from his constituency for a friendly meeting to mark the beginning of a new year and to remind them that all hand must be on deck to secure victory for the party.

The candidate said that the essence of the meeting was to brainstorm with them, chart new ideas and reemphasize on peaceful but robust campaigns and elections in the area.

Responding on behalf of the group, Mr Gogo Ataebirien, chairman for ward 5, thanked Chief Ikanya for a worm reception and promised readiness to galvanize grassroot support for the party.

“As ward leaders, we are quit aware of the nearness to our election date and we are well prepared to deliver victory to our great party.

” Our supporters are optimistic on a positive outcome of the forthcoming elections as it would redefine our political/socioeconomic space,’ he said. (NAN).
