A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded the four dismissed E-Crack Squad to Port Harcourt Correctional centre after they were arraigned today.
Chief Magistrate Promise Iroanya who ordered that the case file be transferred to the Department of Publication Prosecution for legal advice said the court lacks jurisdiction to entertain count 1, 2 and 3 leveled against the officers.
Mr Iroanya who advised that the case file be immediately be transferred to the director Directorate of Public Prosecution Rivers State for proper assignment adjourned the case to 18th September 2020. The names of the officers who were arraigned today after they were dismissed by Police include; Ayogu Fidelis, Eke Chibuzor, Egbunefu Felix and Rose Georgewill and they are facing seven count charges of conspiracy and murder among others.
Meanwhile, Princess Lawrence who held brief for the Ikoku four said the matter will be followed to logical conclusion.
On his part, David Abouw lawyer to the First and fourth defendants explained what his clients have suffered in the hands of the media.
Also, Livingstone Weike lawyer to the third defendant said he hopes the office of the DPP will release the legal advice early to enable the trial start quickly.
In the meantime the Ikoku four who were victims of the torture of the dismissed policemen are demanding the inclusion of the Commander of the E-Crack Squad SP Benson Adentuye and one Inspector Amadi.l
