Nye Udu Upata Kingdom and Regent of Ekpeye Land, HRM Nye Udu Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, Ph.D has, today formerly commenced discussion towards the return of Odhigwe people to their ancestral home.

The discussion which centred on how best to reconcile the people of Odhigwe and Aminigboko Communities in Ahoada West and Abua-Odual Local Government Areas of Rivers State, held at the Port Harcourt palace of Oda Abuan, HRM King Kaleh Obuge.

Recall that the crisis led to the loss of lives and the eventual desertion of the Odhigwe people from their community in the year 2000. It started when the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in 1994 moved in to replace their Rumuodara Kolon Creek oil pipeline.

The first leg of the meeting was fruitful and is expected to eventually act as the elixir for durable peace among the people. Participants though were frank with facts but, they refrained from usage of foul languages.

The Regent made valid presentation of Ekpeye position and his courage firms up his vowed resolve to work towards the unity and protection of every inch of Ekpeye soil and her people. He was accompanied to the meeting by HRM Eze Godspower Okpagi and HRH Eze Ikaki Sobere Ikaki. Further discussion is slated for Thursday, 19th December, 2019.
