The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof Mahmood Yakubu today,February 29th,2019 in day 2 briefing of stakeholders on the preparedness of the commission to conduct the general elections on February 23rd,2019 and March 2019 revealed that the commission will stand by the judgement of supreme court on February 12th,2019 which affirmed the Judgement of Justice Chiwedu Wogu of the state high court nullifying the indirect primaries of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in Rivers state which brought in Tonye Cole as the Governorship candidate

The APC had on February 14th,2019 protested in front of INEC office in Rivers state with a call on the electoral umpire to include the name and candidate of the party on the ballot on election day

With the pronouncement of INEC chairman Today,it is certainly end of the road for APC in Rivers state

It will be recalled that the Senator Magnus Abe led faction and Rotimi Amaechi led faction have been engaged in legal tussle since May,2018

INEC Chairman also confirmed that the conmission has achieved 100% configuration of card readers to be used for the Saturday 23th,February,2019 Presidential and National Assembly election
