
Goodluck Jonathan, former President of Nigeria has called for peaceful election in Guinea. He made the call after a meeting with His Excellency President Alpha Konde at the end of a weeklong assessment of the political environment conducted by the joint mission of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Kofi Annan Foundation ahead of Guinea’s forthcoming parliamentary polls,.
President Jonathan and former Benin President His Excellency NicĂ©phore Soglo addressed the Guinean media where they expressed the mission’s support for the people of Guinea’s strong desire for peaceful, inclusive and credible legislative elections in 2020.
They also stressed the importance of the elections for the strengthening of the country’s democracy and bringing an end to the extension of the current legislature, whose mandate expired in January 2019.
