Some local Government Chairmen and Traditional rulers is now at the mercy of cultists/kidnappers following the pronouncement by Nyesom Wike Governor of Rivers state to dethrone traditional rulers and suspend local Government chairmen in areas where cultism and kidnapping thrives, Revelation Agents can report
We gathered that in a bid to escape the planed punitive measures by Governor Wike, some traditional rulers and local Government chairmen are making huge promises that will entice rampaging cultists in their domain in order to make them accept amnesty
Our source revealed that the peace agreement accepted by cultist in some communities was not borne out of their own conviction but was due to enticing and lofty promises by some of the LGA chairmen and traditional rulers
We learnt that some of the promise made to the cultists/Kidnappers by the LGA Chairmen and the traditional rulers include giving them surveillance jobs, community vigilante jobs and certain amount of money as royalty every month, among others
Revelation Agents investigations shows that immediately after the pronouncement by the Governor,
many traditional rulers and LGA chairmen starting reaching out to the cultists/Kidnappers in a bid to organize the amnesty and signing of peace accord meeting so that the Governor will see that they are working
We gathered that they were more frantic in their efforts after the Governor dethroned a traditional ruler in Ogoni land for allegedly aiding cultism
Cultists in five communities so far have accepted the amnesty offer. The communities are as follow:
Warring cultists in Ubima community in Ikwerre local Government area was the first to sign peace agreement with promise not to go back to crime again
Cultists in Ibaa community in Emohua Local Government area signed peace accord on June 2, 2019 with promise to shun all forms of hostilities
Cultists Obelle community in Emohua local Government area signed peace accord on June 10, 2019 with promise to promote peace
Cult groups in Rumuosi community,Obi/Akpor local Government area signed peace accord on June 20,2019
Cult groups in Ahoda East and Ahoada West local Government area signed peace accord on June 21, 2019
In all the communities where cult groups signed peace agreement, it was in the presences of traditional rulers, local Government Chairmen, Department of State Services (DSS), Police and Nigerian Army
It will be recalled that Governor Wike vowed to dethrone all Government recognized traditional rulers in Andoni local Government area if the three expatriates who were kidnapped while working at the Andoni unity road are not released within 72 hours.
The Governor is yet to make good his promise after the expiration of the 72 hours
