Tension is rising in Mile 2 and Mile 3 Diobu,PortHarcourt following clashes between suspected Iceland and Deygbam cult groups within the area revelationagents.com can report.
Suspected members of the two cult groups who came out in search of rivals on Tuesday night(30 January,2024) had resorted to robbing and harassment of passersby along Gambia/Ikwerre road axis to Ikwerre road /Ikoku junction.
The incident resulted in pandemonium as business owners hurriedly locked their shops and closed for the day.Our reporter who was at Ikwerre road reports that people were running in different directions.
revelationagents.com intelligence sources disclosed that trouble started last week Friday when a member of one of the Houses of Deygbam cult groups at Beribabo axis of Gambia street said to be their armourer cross carpeted to conquer marine Iceland deck(branch) that operates in Diobu.
We learnt that his former cult members had accosted him(armourer) at Gambia demanding that he hands over their arms and ammunition to them since he had joined their rivals.
Our source revealed that the Iceland cult members at Gambia street rejected demands of the Deygbam cult members which resulted to clash .
The source further revealed that in the clash that broke out,some Deygbam cult members sustained machete cuts and one of the injured Deygbam cult members reportedly died from the injuries he sustained three days after the incident.
It was gathered that the Deygbam cult groups had attacked some areas of Gambia street last Monday and Tuesday night to avenge the reported death but were repelled by their rivals.
Our correspondent also reports that members of the two cult groups have started providing protective cordons for their kingpins in anticipation of attacks.
