Gunshots rented the air on Wednesday October 30,2024 as operatives of the Rivers State Police Command arrested some suspects in a car mechanic workshop at School road street,Mile 3 Diobu,PortHarcourt,where a lexus vehicle which was said to have been snatched at gunpoint in Delta state and brought to Rivers state was recovered.
We learnt that gunshots erupted when the Police combing blackout spots in the area had an altercation with a vigilante personnel at Azikiwe street.In the ensuing pandeminium,residents scamper for safety.
Our correspondent reports that the Police came back an hour later with more officers and a towing van to tow the snatched vehicle.Our correspondent also sighted the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Azikiwe Police Division along side the officers of the unit that came for the arrest.
As at press time,normalcy has returned to the area with passersby moving about their legitimate business.
There is no official response from the Police yet on the issue.
