16 Days Activism:GWIHR Calls For Collective Effort To Curb Sexual And Gender Based Violence

A non governmental organization known as Greater Women Initiative for Health and Right(GWIHR) has called for collective efforts to curb seeming  increase in Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Nigeria. 
The Programme Officer of the group,Peace Bai made the assertion during the official flagging off the 
16 days Activism to end Gender Based Violence which commenced yesterday  25th  November to end 10th December 2020.
The annual event commemorated as international day for the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women and girls, spans through November 25, to 10th of December is celebrated as international human rights day.
Peace Bai said all hands must be on deck to eradicate and eliminate SGBV which has has become a monster in the society.

She disclosed that the theme for the year “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!”  was carefully designed to encourage people to fund victims of SGBV, respond to issues on SGBV, prevent SGBV from occurring and collect data on incidence of SGBV.

said many perpetrators of SGBV have evaded justice because some victims of SGBV do not speak up. 
The programme officer of the organization urged victims to always speak up with a view to getting justice while adding that the group objective is to contribute its quota to ensure SGBV is eradicated from the society.
