The Senate of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has approved the expulsion of five students for cult related activities. During it’s statutory sitting on Wednesday October 31, 2018, the Chairman of the Students Ethics and Disciplinary Committee and also the Head of St John Campus Diobu Aba road, Dr Levi Doe Kalagbor presented a report of the committee’s findings after thorough investigation on disturbances on campus by the cult boys which Senate deliberated upon and gave approval for the students to be expired. The students are:
1. Mr Boms Omasirim UE/2016/B.ED4/0017 of the Department of Economics
2. Mr Anaele Kudos Ikechi UE/2016/B.ED4/0071 of the Department of Economics
3. Mr Ibifubara Mac People UE/2014/B.ED4/8853 of the Department of Educational Psychology, Guidance & Counselling
4.Mr Sunny T. Hillary UE/2014/B.ED4/7826 of the Department of History & Diplomatic Studies.
Similarly, Mr Bright Agbagbuo UE/2014/B.ED4/8833 of the Department of Marketing has also been expelled for threat, assault and battering of a female student.
The move by the Senate is to minimize the menace of cultism in the university system and to ensure that students live on campus without fear of molestation, intimidation and harassment.
The Vice-Chancellor Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele commended the Committee for the work done and hopes that the action would serve as a deterrent to others.
Other members of the Committee include Dr Agi Ugochukwu who is also the Dean, Student Affairs, Barrister T. T . Minaiyo, also the Director Council Matters, and Mr Nwidua Nwibari, the Chief Security Officer. Mrs Lolo Jack, a Deputy Registrar in charge of Junior Staff Matters served as the Secretary of the Committee.
