Senate has approved that the certificates of those who defrauded students of the university by collecting their school fees and issuing them fake receipt would not be released until they have paid back all the money collected. The perpetrators are:
1. Okedie Naboth Aaron of the Department of History and Diplomatic studies. He is to refund the sum of seven hundred and eighty eight thousand, three hundred naira (#788,399) only. He is also to tender a written apology letter to the university and pay rent to the university committee in charge of stores for using the university premises for doing his business in the 2016/2017 academic session. Senate upheld that his certificate should be issued to him two years after he has fulfilled the stipulated conditions and should also be barred from doing any form of business within and around the university premises.
2. Moses Nmemerum Uchendu of the Department of French and International studies is to refund the sum of one hundred and five thousand naira (#105,000) to two students and tender a written apology to the university for unwholesome practice. His certificate would be issued to him two years after the payment has been made.
3. Onuoha Happiness Ada of the Department of French and international studies should tender a written apology to the university for her involvement in the unwholesome practice. Her certificate would be issued to her after one year.
4. Ruth Barivure Monday of the Department of French and international studies should tender a written apology to the university for her involvement in the unwholesome practice. Her certificate would be issued to her after one year.
5. Iwezor Modestus Okechukwu of the Department of French should tender a written apology to the university for his involvement in the unwholesome practice. His certificate should be issued to him one year after refund of money collected.
Senate approved that all students victims in possession of fake receipt payment and those who were not issued any receipt after payment should be allowed a period of grace to pay their 2016/2017 academic session fees. The recommendations by the panel of investigation on the fake school fees receipt as presented by the Registrar Mrs Hope Kue-Ikoro and upheld by Senate, had the Head, Legal unit, Barrister Chris Didia as chairman of the committee.
