
Ahead of 2019 general elections,the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers state in collaboration with a Non Governmental Organization known as Greater Women and Youth Support Forum(GWAYSF) Today,January 21st,2019 commenced a door to door sensitization of voters with a call on the electorates and political actors to work towards peaceful and violence free elections in the state
The sensitization of voters scheduled to hold in the three senatorial zones of the state kick start at Bori capital of Khana local Government area in Rivers South-East senatorial district
The sensitization team on arrival at INEC office in Khana local Government area were received by the Electoral Officer of the Commission Dr.Okechukwu Obienze.
The sensitization team started their campaign at Bori Motor park with distributions of hand bills and one on one discussion with shop owners,passersby, drivers,passengers who are up to voting age
The team later moved to popular Tabaa market in Khana local Government area
The President of GWAYSF,Evelyn Nwilene in her speech said”INEC is for credible,inclusive,free and fair election”.
She urged the electorates to support INEC towards achieving a violence free election in the state
She said”the electorates should vote and not to fight”
The sensitization team urged the electorates not to sale their vote but vote according to their conscience
Some potential voters who spoke to Revelation Agents urged INEC to continue to remain apolitical
The Head of Voters Education and Publicity of INEC in Rivers state,Edwin Enabo had earlier interacted with leaders of the team on arrival at INEC office in PortHarcourt to ensure effective and purpose fulfilled sensitization
Revelation Agents correspondent reports that the sensitization programme will continue Tomorrow with the team moving to Rivers West senatorial district
