In what appears to be a crack in Nigerian Bar Association,PortHarcourt branch, a counter statement to call on Rivers State Commissioner of Police,CP Dandaura to resign from office by Sylvester Adaka Esq,Chairman of Port Harcourt branch of Nigerian Bar Association(NBA),the Lawyers Network for Change has passed a vote of confidence on CP Dandaura Mustapha.
The Secretary of the group,Hycinth Okokwu Esq in an interview with newsmen,commended CP Mustapha for high level of diligence and professionalism in discharge of his duty since he assumed office last year.
The Publicity Secretary of the group,Chigozie Orlu Orlu,called on Rivers people to support the Commissioner to restore total peace in the state.
The vote of confidence passed on CP dandaura comes barely 96 hours after the leadership of NBA Port Harcourt branch called on the Commissioner to resign over loss of public trust.
The NBA Chairman had argued that it will be difficult for the public to believe what ever the Police in Rivers State under the leadership of CP Dandaura says after it was discovered that no previous autopsy was carried out on late Chima Ikwunado who died in Eagle Crack detention facility. Sylvester Adaka Esq had criticized the Commissioner of Police for not carrying out due diligence before his spokesperson,DSP Nnamdi Omoni went on air to say report of Autopsy conducted on late Ikwunado showed he died of high sugar.
Checks by Revelation Agents shows that Nigerian Bar Association,PortHarcourt branch is the umbrella body of all practicing lawyers in Port Harcourt magisterial district.
