The Department of State Services(DSS) in Nigeria has denied arresting any staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) as been circulated in some news media
A statement released Today,April 20,2019 by Peter Afunanya, the Public Relations Officer of DSS national headquarters Abuja debunked the stories making the round that ICT staff of INEC were arrested by DSS for disclosing the commission’s servers identity number to the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just concluded 2019 elections Alhaji Atiku Abubakar
The statement explained that the story went further to allege that 7 of the INEC ICT staff were detained and tortured for 3 days but was hurriedly release when their wives threatened to carry out a joint press statement
DSS in it statement said the story is totally false and fabricated to smear the image of the organization.
DSS maintained that ICT staff of INEC were never invited or arrested as claimed by the publication
It assured the general public of its resolve to continue to remain professional in the discharge of its duty at all time while warning those bent on causing disaffection in the country to desist from such act
