The Special Anti Vandal Team constituted by the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,Rivers State Command, Muktar Lawal which specialize in identifying illegal dumps in the state is working tirelessly to eradicate vandalism and illegal petroleum products dumps in the state Revelation Agents reports.
In its continuous efforts to rid the state of illegal dump,at about 1500hrs on Tuesday, 19th January, 2021, the Anti vandal team of the command arrested a suspect named MR. EZIKE SHOKE with a Volkswagen Jetta car loaded with suspected illegally refined AGO, loaded in gallons (25liters), fifty six (56) in number at an illegal dump situated at number 34 Arochukwu Street, Rumumasi in Port Harcourt city L.G.A of Rivers State.
The Spokesperson of NSCDC,Rivers State command, Michael Oguntuase who is also an Assistant Commandant of Corps(ACC) while conducting journalists round the illegal dump where the suspected products were seized,expressed regret that the place is situated at a residential area making it very dangerous for the residence of the area due to the adverse health effects which in extreme case results to death.
Other item recovered by NSCDC include 57 empty gallons found at the crime scene.
The spokesperson of the command said investigation is ongoing to arrest all those connected to the dastardly act and they will be charged to court for possible prosecution.
Meanwhile Mr Shoke in an interview with Journalists confirmed he was at the scene of crime but came to load cartons of hero drinks at the place
Our correspondent reports that one of the rooms where the gallons of adulterated AGO were kept also has cartons of drinks stored in it.
As at the time of filing this report, NSCDC has also arrested the landlord of the building who is undergoing interrogation.
