Some women of from Ogoni in Khana Local Government area embarked in a protest half naked against Rivers State Government over announcement that Dr.(PhD) Azoroh Bariledum Manager of Prodest Hotel,Eleme Local Government area that was demolished by the state Government tested positive for Covid-19.
Allwell Ene a PortHarcout Journalist who monitored the protest reports that the women promised to protest completely naked by Wednesday 27th May 2020 if the Rivers State Government did not release Dr. Azoroh who they claimed is in treatment centre. It would be recalled that the Rivers State Government demolished Prodest hotel some weeks ago on allegations that the hotel flouted the directive of Rivers State Government on closure of hotels.
Dr Azoroh was convicted by a magistrate court and ordered to be detained at Covid-19 Isolation centre Elekahia for two weeks and also pay 50,000 naira fine as fine.
The owner of the prodest hotel Gogobari Needam had faulted the Judgement on the ground that his manager did not have access to a Lawyer. Gogobari also rejected the pronouncement of his Manager as a carrier of Covid-19.
The protesting women urged the State Government to release the Manager of Prodest hotel as they claimed he has no Covid-19 .
The Commissionner of Information had in a statement on 24th April 2020 said Dr. Azoroh was among the 27 persons whom their result returned positive for Covid-19.
