Pharmaceutical Society Of Nigeria Faults Media Trial Of Pharmacist Danraka By NAPTIP On Allegation Of Raping 12 Years Old Boy

THE PHARM. ABUBAKAR DANRAKA SAGA: THE POSITION OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF NIGERIA, ABUJA BRANCH

For the past couple of weeks, a very unfortunate document which emanated from a press release by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) alleging that one Pharm. Abubakar Danraka PhD sodomized a 12 year old boy on Saturday 21st March 2020 at his residence has gained currency and widely circulated across several print and all social media platforms.
The reactions of respondents to the said article have all tried and convicted Pharm. Abubakar Danraka PhD on an allegation with neither a conclusive investigation nor trial at a competent court of law.

Having keenly followed the developments arising from the publication and the reactions thereof, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Abuja branch consequently, wishes to make the following statements:

1. That Pharm. Abubakar Danrakar PhD has been a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Abuja Branch for over fifteen (15) years.
2. That he has been a committed and dedicated member and has served very meritoriously in several committees where he has discharged his duties with utmost professionalism.
3. That in these years of his association as a member of PSN Abuja, Pharm. Abubakar Danraka PhD has exhibited the highest level of moral rectitude.
4. That Pharm. Abubakar Danraka PhD is a very religious and upright man with a very high premium attached to core family values.
5. That Pharm. Abubakar Danraka PhD has blatantly refuted the allegation.
6. That Pharm. Abubakar Danraka PhD was at work at NIPRD while his family was at home at the time and date the incident was alleged to have taken place at his residence.
7. That without prejudice to the above statements, we trust in the professionalism and competence of the Nigeria Police Force to carry out a proper investigation of the allegations to establish his innocence.
8. That while we understand the reactions of the citizenry especially considering the weight of the allegation we plead that everyone should allow for proper investigation of allegation to be carried out.
