KILLERS OF LATE CHIEF NWOZURUAKA ANELE OF ALAKAHIA CHOBA, ARRESTED.
Operatives of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) while following up on the Murder of Late Chief Nwozuruaka Anele, a PDP Chieftain who was murdered on 21st September, 2019 in cold blood in the presence of his wife and children at his residence in Alakahia, Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State,
The Police today paraded six (6) Suspects in connection with the Murder. They are:-
Bright Wali ‘m’ 21yrs from Alakahia Community.
Blessing Ogbuagu ‘f’ 23yrs from Abia State.
Chineme Wemeh ‘m’ 26yrs from Alakahia Community
Stanley Levi ‘m’ 19yrs from Alakahia Community.
Nnamdi Emenike ‘m’ 35yrs from Alakahia Community.
Sunday Bright ‘m’ 35yrs from Alakahia
The Suspects who were arrested at different times, confessed to belonging to Iceland Cult group terrorizing Alakahia and Choba Communities in Obio/Akpor LGA of the State.
One of the Suspects, Bright Wali ‘m’ confessed to have led his gang on that fateful day, to the house of the deceased, where they shot him to death. His confession led to the arrest of others who have also confessed their complicity in the Murder.
The Homicide Section of the State CID having concluded Investigation and established a prima facie case against them, will arraign them in Court tomorrow, Friday 1/11/2019.
- In another development, Operatives of the Anti- Robbery Squad of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), acting on credible information, arrested one Dumlebabari Wugah ‘m’ 30yrs from Kaani II in Khana LGA of the State, the leader of the criminal gang that specializes in snatching cars in the State and its environs.
His arrest and consequent confession led to the arrest of the
Receiver, one Saviour George ‘m’ 28yrs, who receives the snatched
Cars from them and in whose possession two snatched cars :-Toyota Camry with Reg. No. Abuja GWA 248 YK and Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. RLU 386 KM, were recovered.
In his confession, Dumlebabari Wugah stated that he is the leader of a five man gang that snatches cars from unsuspecting victims. He further stated that their modus Oparandi is that they use the lady among them to disguise like a pregnant woman, under labour, which usually attracts sympathy from passers-by who will be forced to stop and offer assistance, whereupon they will be attacked and their cars taken away.
The duo will be charged to Court tomorrow for the offences of Armed Robbery and Receiving Stolen property, respectively.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dandaura is hereby renewing his call for support from the public in information sharing, while promising to sustain the onslaught against armed banditry in the State.
