Rivers most wanted Kidnapper/cultist Nwodi Onuigwe,his second in command and two others were killed in a gun battle with Police early morning Tuesday 13,2023.
Briefing Journalists,the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Nwonyi Emeka said on June 13,2023 based on credible intelligence spoted a kidnap gang led by Nwodi Onuigwe in Ogoloma, Okirika Local Government Area.
CP Emeka stated that on sighting the operatives, the hoodlums open fired and in the process Onuigwe,three other cultists were fatally wounded and was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
CP Nwonyi revealed that Onuigwe has killed being on watch list of the Police and has killed Policemen, Innocent persons.
CP Emeka also disclosed that some natives of Elibrada deserted their home due to criminal activities of Nwodi and his gang.
CP Emeka listed rxhibits recovered to include AK 47, live ammunition,sssault riffle,and pump action gun.
CP Emeka also revealed that the Chairman of Emohua LGA has redeemed the pledged he made to give two million naira to anybody who gives information that can lead to arrest of Onuigwe.
CP Emeka also revealed that on June 10,22340hrs hoodlums were operating at East West road between Ovekwu and Emohua LGA.He said the Police got credible intelligence and went into the bush and rescued five victims .
CP Emeka stated that four more already abducted victims were rescued unhurt in the process.
CP Emeka further revealed that on June 7,2023 the Police Intercepted one Nna David and Emphraim while on patrol with Pump Action.
The Commissioner of Police explained that Police personnel on Saturday 11,June,2023 along Rail club intercepted a total Camry custom colour driven by Kingsley Simeon and Arinze with different plate numbers.
He said charms were also recovered while Investigation is ongoing.
