In what appears like abandoned Shore Protection project, the National Executive Council of Ase-Azaga Youth Development Association(AYDA) on behalf of the entire Youths of Ase-Azaga community in Ndoni Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local Government Area of Nigeria has written to JMS International Limited, the company nominated by Rivers state Government to handle the Job requesting for an audience with the company on issues surrounding the shore protection works
In a leaked letter in the possession of Revelation Agents Online News, written by the AYDA and addressed to the company which was dated 18th December,2018 and signed by Hon.Pastor Obah Amechi President and Mr Enebeli Eloka ,AYDA noted that when the shore protection works in Ase-Azaga,Isukwa,Onikwu,Obiofu and Utu, was flagged off by the Rivers state Government on December 21,2017,the Rivers State Governor,Nyesom Wike said the reason for the project was to help protect the communities from devastating effect of Rivers Niger, the Governor to buttress his commitment directed the Permanent Secretary of the Special Bureau to relocate to Ndoni district to ensure the progress of the work and the completion of the shore protection works within the scheduled time
AYDA in the letter said “there and then, your company was directed by the Rivers state Government to conclude the soil test in the affected areas and commence the work by January 2018,we were overwhelmed with joy, as this was a life-long dream come true, unfortunately, one year has virtually gone by and Ase-Azaga community is yet to feel the impact of shore protection works “.
AYDA further stressed that the existence of their community is at the mercy of the monstrous –devouring coastal erosion.
In view of this the foregoing, we have resolved to have a meeting with your company on the 15th of January,2019 to be intimated among others on the issues surrounding the shore protection works in Ase-Azaga
