Suspected cultists yesterday night May 8th ,2019 attacked Hon. Victor Ihunwo and officials of PortHarcourt local Government area of Rivers state, Nigeria at Bishop Okoye street mile 3 Diobu, PortHarcourt,Revelation Agents Online News has learnt
An an Eyewitness who gave his name as Nelson Nwavueze told Revelation Agents that the Mayor who came to the area to eject street traders came under attack by suspected cultists bearing guns and other dangerous weapons
The eyewitness stated that one of the aides of Hon. Victor Ihunwo was injured in the attack
Our source hinted that the suspected cultists who attacked the Mayor are believed to be the ones that encourages street trading by collecting illegal fee from the street traders
The source revealed that the hoodlums are not happy that the Mayor is stopping street trading which gives them illegal revenue
When contacted, the press secretary to Hon Victor Ihunwo ,Bob Abayomi confirmed to our reporter that the Mayor and his officials were attacked and added that the Mayor is on top of the situation
It will be recalled that Hon Victor Ihunwo had earlier given several notices to street traders to vacate from major roads like Bishop Okoye ,Waterlines junction, Garrison junction, Afikpo street in Mile 1 among others
The Mayor had stated that the exercise to remove street traders was aimed at restoring PortHarcourt to its status of garden city
